The National Day marks the nationhood of a nation or non-sovereign country.
The National Day will be a national holiday. This nationhood can be symbolized
by the date of independence, of becoming republic or a significant date for
a patron saint or a ruler.
Some countries have more than one National Day. For example, Pakistan has
three National Days, none of which is named the "National Day".
Andorra, celebrated on 8th September.
Austria, National Day is on 26th October. The 1955 Austrian State Treaty ended
the four-power occupation and recognized Austria as an independent and sovereign
state.
Bahrain, got its independence on the 16th of December, 1971 under British
imperialism.
Benin, celebrated on November 30th. It commemorates the establishment of a
Marxist-Leninist state on the anniversary of the day in 1975 when country
name was changed from Dahomey to Benin.
Bhutan, National day is celebrated on 17th of December in commemoration of
the accession of Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuk, the first king of Bhutan to the
throne, at Punakha Dzong.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, November 25th, Statehood re-established in 1943 from
the Independent State of Croatia.
Brunei, celebrated on 23rd February.
Cameroon, National Day is a holiday in Cameroon celebarated on 20 May.
Cape Verde, September 12th, the Republic of Cape Verde achieved independence
from Portugal in 1975.
China, The National Day of the People's Republic of China, is celebrated every
year on October 1. It is a public holiday in the People's Republic of China.
It is celebrated throughout China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Cyprus, Greek Cypriot National Day is celebrated on 1st April. It remembers the
day in 28th October 1940 when the Greek General Ioannis Metaxas answered a
defiant "ochi"('no' in Greek) to Italy's request to cross the country. So
it is called as Ochi Day.
In France, National Day is 14 July and is known as the Bastille Day. It is
widely celebrated and the French Tricolour is much in evidence, while the
President of the Republic attends a military parade of Paris.
Gibraltar, On 10th September every year, this video shows how the Gibraltarians

Greenland, on 21st June is a national holiday. It was introduced in 1983 as
one of the Home Rule's traditions.
Guinea Bissau, celebrated on 24th September.
Hungary, March 15th, memorial day of the 1848 Revolution.
Iraq, 14th July, commemorating the 1958 revolution.
In Ireland, St. Patrick's Day, 17 March, has been the National Day.
Kuwait, On the 25th of February each year, Kuwaitis celebrates their national day.
Libya, celebrated on 1st September.
Luxembourg, celebrated on 23rd June.
Malaysia, Hari Merdeka is a national day of Malaysia commemorating the independence
of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule, celebrated on August 31.
Maldives, celebrates on 27th April.
Mauritius, On March 12, 1968 Mauritius gains independence from Britain.
Mayotte, taking of the Bastille, 14 July 1789.
Monaco, celebrated on 19th November.
Myanmar, celebrated on 22nd November.
Netherlands Antilles, celebrated on 30th April.
Qatar, December 18th, National Day in commemoration of the historic day in 1878
when Shaikh Jassim, the founder of the State of Qatar, succeeded his father,
Shaikh Muhammad Bin Thani, as the ruler and led the country toward unity.
Romania, celebrated on 1st December.
Saint Lucia, celebrates on 13th December.
Saudi Arabia, National Day in Saudi Arabia is September 23, marking the
unification of the country by King Abdul Aziz in 1932.
Seychelles, celebrated on 18th June.
Singapore, celebrates on 9th August from 1966.
Sri Lanka, celebrated on February 4th, from 1948.
Sweden, National Day of Sweden, or the Swedish Flag's Day is observed in Sweden
on June 6 every year. The day was made into a national day by the Riksdag in
1983.
Switzerland, the Swiss National Day is 1 August. It is inspired by the mention
of "early August" in the Federal Charter of 1291. It was first celebrated in
Berne in 1891.
Spain's National Day is held on 12 October.
Taiwan, Double Ten Day is the national day of the Republic of China and celebrates
the start of the Wuchang Uprising of October 10, 1911, which led to the collapse
of the Qing Dynasty in China.
United Arab Emirates(UAE), celebrated on 2nd December.
In the United States, National Day is 4th July, celebrated with parades,
fireworks, picnics and barbecues.
Vietnam, celebrates on 2nd September.
Wallis and Futuna, celebrated on 14th July.
Yemen, celebrates on 14th October.
Most countries have a fixed date National Day, but some have movable dates. In
Jamaica, which up to 1997 celebrated its National Day on the first Monday in
August. This commemorated independence from the United Kingdom which was
attained on Monday, 6 August 1962, the first Monday in August of that year. Next
is Thailand which celebrates the birthday of the king on 5 December.
