Liberation Day

Liberation DayLiberation Day is a day, that marks the liberation of a place, similar to an independence day.

Liberation, simply means "Freedom" can be said in the same breath as liberty or liberal which all mean "emancipation, independence or freedom of expression". Liberation Day is celebrated for various reasons in most of the countries.

Albania:
In Albania, November 29, 1944 is remembered as the day of national liberation.

Bulgaria:
The Preliminary Treaty of San Stefano was a treaty between Russia and the Ottoman Empire signed at the end of the Russo-Turkish War, 1877-78. It was signed on March 3, 1878 at San Stefano.

Congo(Democratic Republic of):
Democratic Republic of the Congo is celebrated on May 17.

Cuba:
Cuba celebrates on January 1.

Czech Republic:
Liberation Day in Czech Republic is celebrated on 8 May, 1945, the end of European part of the World War II.

East Timor:
East Timor celebrates on 20th September.

Egypt:
In Egypt, liberation day is celebrated on 25th April.

Falkland Islands:
It is celebrated on June 14th. It commemorates the end of the Falklands War.

Guam:
In Guam, is celebrated on 21st July. It reminds the Battle of Guam held on July 21 1944.

Guernsey:
Guernsey celebrates on May 9th, marking the end of the German Occupation of the Channel Islands during World War II.

Italy:
April 25 is an public holiday in Italy on the anniversary of the 1945 liberation. The War of Liberation that occurred in Italy during World War II. It is also known as the War of Resistance.

Kuwait:
In Kuwait, it is celebrated on 26th February.

Laos:
This day is celebrated in Laos on 12th October. It commemorates Laos liberation from its protectorate status with France and establishment of a monarchy in 1954.

Lebanon:
May 25 is a national holiday in Lebanon. On May 25, 2000, the Israeli army withdrew from occupied territory in Southern Lebanon after 22 years of occupation.

Mali:
In Mali, it is celebrated on November 19th.

Netherlands:
This Day is celebrated on May 5th in the Netherlands. It marks the end of the Nazi occupation during World War II on 1945. Throughout the country, two minutes of silence are observed at 8:00 p.m.

On May 4th, the Dutch hold the Remembrance of the Dead for the people who fought and died during World War II, and in wars in general. There is a remembrance gathering at the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam.

Nicaragua:
National Liberation Day is celebrated in Nicaragua on 19th July. It commemorates the flight of the ruling dictators in 1979.

North Korea:
Gwangbokjeol, celebrated annually on August 15, is one of the Public holidays in South Korea. It commemorates Victory over Japan Day, which liberated Korea from Japanese rule. It is called as "Restoration of the Light Day".

Rwanda:
In Rwanda, it is celebrated on July 4, marking the end of the genocide.

Seychelles:
This Day is celebrated on June 5th in the Seychelles.

South Korea:
In South Korea, celebrates on 15th August.

Syria:
In Syria, celebrates on 6th October.

Togo:
In Togo, liberation day is celebrated on January 13th.

Trinidad and Tobago:
In Trinidad and Tobago, celebrated on March 30th.

Uganda:
In Uganda, celebrates on 26th January.

US Virgin Islands:
In US Virgin Islands, celebrates on 1st November.

Vietnam:
In Vietnam, celebrated on April 30th, from 1975.

Africa:
The first African Liberation day held on April 15, 1958 at Accra. African Liberation Day stands committed to the struggle for national independence, African redemption, African liberation, African unification and scientific socialism.

On May 25, people all over the world will recognize the Africa Day or Africa Liberation Day activities are being organized throughout Africa and all over the world where African people are living and struggling.

India(Goa):
December 19th is celebrated as Goa Liberation Day. The liberation of Goa led to its release from the Portuguese dominion by the Indian Navy. It is seen as a momentous day.
