Holy Saturday is the day after Good Friday. It is the day before Easter and the last day of the
Holy Week, in which Christians prepare for Easter.
It is sometimes called Easter Eve or Even, or Low Saturday. In the Czech Republic and
Slovakia it is called White Saturday. In Dutch it is known as Silent Saturday.
In Eastern Orthodoxy this day, known as Holy and Great Saturday, is also called The Great Sabbath.
This Day is often incorrectly called Easter Saturday. Confusion is probably caused because
they are both a week apart.
On this day the church commemorates the time that Jesus Christ lay in the tomb and that he
descended into hell.
This is the day between Good Friday and Easter Day. It represents the one full day that Jesus Christ was dead.
On this day, the Church waits at the Lord's tomb, and meditates on Jesus Christ's Passion and Death and his descent into Hell. With prayer and
fasting people await his glorious Easter resurrection.
